Winter Downunder

It's winter in Australia, and although it doesn't snow where I live, it certainly has been cold  with lots of snow on the mountains not far from me, so I thought I'd get into the swing of things with a new winter template.......In Oz we love to celebrate Christmas in July, and many restaurants and shops really get into the Christmas theme...so at this special time,  I always take the opportunity to visit an amazing store called The Country Shoppe at Lawson in the Blue Mountains....I have to say it is my very favourite shop & is owned by Rick Rutherford, who for years was the editor of a magazine called Australian Country Collections. Rick really gets into the Yulefest theme and decorates his shop to the hilt with everything festive...it's a joy to visit at anytime, but at this time it is something very special....  The lovely vintage house which plays host to Rick's retail therapy extravaganza is called Badger House...there are about 8 rooms, all beautifully decorated with all things country, shabby & chic. Click on stores on his website and then do a video tour of the shoppe! Enjoy!

  2. Hi Susan, yes we had a lovely time in the mountains and Rick's shop is well worth a visit if you're ever passing that way.

  3. Oh, oh, I've been there! Except it was November, so it really was coming up to Christmas and it was really rather surreal...

  4. Hi Katy, wow, isn't that a coincidence..obviously you were out here on holidays. It's a fabulous shop and Rick is such a fantastic guy, I just love going there. My daughter & I quite often stay up there for the weekend at a lovely bed & breakfast called Lurline House in Leura, it makes for a great little break. So glad you got to see it for yourself. Very best wishes, Denise.
